  • Discovery Series

Our Discovery series classes are for you to meet our pastors and leaders, hear what we believe, know our vision for discipleship and discover along the way how God is prompting you to grow in your faith. Pastor Mike’s Discovery class is an introduction to our church and what it looks like to be a disciple of Christ.   The other classes will unpack each area of discipleship in greater depth. Each class not only shares our faith and vision, but also practical steps for spiritual growth. Classes are offered periodically at the 9am hour as announced in the e-bulletin. While you may not take all the classes at once or in any particular order, we encourage you to plan on eventually attending them all as a way to get to know your church but also to get a clear vision for your own discipleship journey.
  • This is the story of Laurelwood; who we are as a church, what we believe in as a fellowship, and where we are going together.  We take the time to get to know one another, share God’s story, and talk about the key principles of what makes Laurelwood tick.  On the fun scale, this class is the best!
  • Have you considered that all you have is entrusted to you by God for a reason – your time, SHAPE, treasures and people in your life – even hardships and limitations?  Explore what it looks like to faithfully preserve, apply and grow what God entrusts to you.
  • Deeper Life Series

God has a desire that you become stronger and spiritually more mature. The Deeper Life Series provides solid Bible exposition through various books of the Bible to move you deeper into the Lord and the LBC Discipleship Process. These Classes are designed to provide increasing spiritual stability and strength in your life as an adult at LBC. Special attention is given to the verse by verse explanation of what God is teaching within each paragraph of every section of the Bible book. Then these truths are applied specifically and personally to your life situation.
  • The Book of Exodus is most noted for its content of many Divinely orchestrated miracles (plagues, Passover, parting of the Red Sea, burning bush, 10 Commandments, water out of a rock, manna from heaven, etc.).  To focus only on the miracles, however, is to miss God’s primary purpose for the exodus, which was to birth a Nation essential to His Plan of Redemption of mankind, a Nation (Israel) from which the promised Messiah would come.  God’s preparation and testing of that young Nation’s worthiness for such a role began during the wilderness experience. Come with us as we study the geography, history, and theology of the Book of Exodus. Such knowledge is essential for our being able to defend our faith against today’s headlines which read: “Palestinians petition World Court to invalidate Israel’s claim to land”, “United Nations pursues ‘two-state’ solution for Israel”, “World governments condemn U.S. recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s national capitol”, “Palestinians attack Israeli borders; rockets target Israeli towns” Today’s headlines have their origin in the story of the exodus; let us see from God’s word why God saw it necessary that the Book of Exodus be included as the second book of the Bible.
  • The Gospel of Mark would not be in our Bibles if the Lord was not a God of grace and forgiveness. The theme of the Gospel is expressed in Mark 10:45, “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.” The point of the passage is that Jesus’ willingness to humble Himself in sacrificial service for others is intended as a pattern for the lives of His followers. The purpose of Mark is to present the person and work of Christ as God’s Servant and Son as demonstrated by His mighty works. Mark records 18 of the 35 specifically detailed miracles in the Bible. There are more miracles per page in Mark’s gospel than in Matthew, Luke or John. Jesus reminds us that what seems impossible from a human point of view is always possible with God.
