Erik fits the Profile…

During the Pastoral Search Process, the Laurelwood Search Team, with the help of CVNW, developed a pastoral profile.  This pastoral profile included the following requirements and qualifications for the next senior pastor:

  • Someone who can grow young adults/families while also growing/developing multigenerational relationships
  • Strong visionary, especially in outreach
  • Promote family activities
  • Gifted teacher, shepherd, leader, elder qualified
  • MA degree or Masters of Divinity preferred
  • Minimum 5 years pastoral experience, 10 years preferred
  • Someone whose theological orientation is line with Laurelwood’s statement of faith
  • Community minded
  • Someone who can serve 20 years or more

The Laurelwood Search Team and the Elders feel that Erik Hallworth fits the details of this pastoral profile the best.  After multiple interviews with Erik, it is clear that Erik is very relational, he is a good shepherd, and has the capability of establishing a church vision and ensuring the various ministries and activities within the church stay true to that vision.  Erik has also proven that he cares about community outreach and reaching others for Christ.  Erik has shared that his area of strength is focusing on personal relationships and discipleship.  He believes as we grow in depth as a church, God will bring the breadth of numbers to the church as He sees fit.  Erik is committed to expository preaching.  Erik is one of the younger applicants the Search Team looked at, however, after getting to know Erik more, and asking some key questions about his philosophy of ministry, the Search Team and Elders are confident that this young age will also be a great asset to Laurelwood.
